More Turkey Hunts

Additional Opportunities In the Golden State

It's time to apply for the spring 2000 turkey hunts for Spenceville, Daugherty Hill, and Oroville Wildlife Areas. To apply, hunters are asked to fill out a standard U.S. Postal Service postcard legibly with the following information:
• 1999/2000 California hunting license number of each applicant
• Wildlife Area the hunter wishes to hunt. Include hunt days or periods in order of preference
• Current address for each applicant
(Remember, up to two hunters can apply on the same postcard)

Hunt Days/Periods

Daugherty Hill Wildlife Area:
March 25, March 26, March 29, April 1, April 2
Sixteen permits will be issued for each of the five shoot days.
Total of 80 permits.
Spenceville Wildlife Area:
March 25, March 26, March 29, April 1, April 2
Forty permits will be issued for each of the five shooting days.
Total of 200 permits.
Oroville Wildlife Area:
March 25-26, April 8-9, April 22-23
Fifteen permits will be issued for each of the three 2-day hunt periods.
Total of 45 permits.

An Upland Game Bird Stamp is required to hunt turkeys. Permits are not transferrable. Wildlife Areas will be open only to hunters with permits during the first nine days of turkey season. Applications should be submitted to:

Hunters may submit only one application for each area. All applications must be received by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2000. A public drawing for permits will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2000. Each successful applicant will also be posted at the address listed above.
