Free Junior Pheasant Hunts
Junior hunters Matthew Arrollo (left) and Jed White went pheasant hunting at Cahoon Pheasant Club on October 22 and bagged some nice birds.
When California's Department of Fish and Game stopped funding junior pheasant hunts on pheasant clubs in California, Cahoon Pheasant Club of Escalon decided to do something about it. They teamed up with the California Wild Turkey Federation and put together a program which allows junior hunters to go on a pheasant hunt at no cost. Owners Dave Cahoon and Tony Ragone said, "Juniors are our future, that's why we are doing this."

The hunts are held each weekend until the club closes in early February. You must have reservations as there is a limit on the number of junior hunters the club can accomodate each weekend. A guide and hunting dog are included in the hunt.

For information and reservations for junior hunters, call (209) 838-6085. Remember to take your camera and send those pictures to us at WesternHunter.com so we can share them with all our readers.
