Wild Turkey Hunting Seminar
The Department of Fish and Game, through its Game Bird Heritage Program (GBHP) and the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) is offering a free wild turkey hunting seminar. This special event will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2001, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Norris Veteran's Building, Room 1, 400 Norris Road, Bakersfield. This event is tailored for both the novice and experienced turkey hunter. A slide show, calling techniques and hunting tactics will be presented by Mr. Larry D. Jones of Wilderness Sound Productions. Mr. Jones is a well-known outdoor videographer and hunter who resides in Springfield, Oregon. In addition, Department biologists will be on hand to discuss the Department's wild turkey translocation program, hunting opportunities and to answer questions about wild turkeys in California. Virtually every aspect of turkey hunting will be covered, including where to locate the birds, where to hunt them on public lands, calling, turkey habits, camouflage and the use of shotguns and archery equipment. A local taxidermist will explain how to take care of your trophy in the field. Free turkey patterning targets and a special turkey hunting shotgun will be raffled off.

Directions: Located on the north end of Bakersfield and east of Highway 99 on Norris Road between Airport Loop Drive and North Chester Avenue. Coming from the south of Bakersfield (traveling north), exit Highway 99 at Airport Loop Drive, proceed east, turn right on Norris Road. Coming from north of Bakersfield (traveling south), exit Highway 99 at Norris Road and proceed east.
