Remington Introduces Two Powerful Short Action Cartridges

Remington announces another breakthrough in non-belted magnum design and performance — .300 Remington Short Action Ultra Mag and 7mm Remington Short Action Ultra Mag. Since its debut in 1999, the success of the Remington Ultra Magnum family of cartridges has been nothing short of phenomenal and now magnum enthusiasts will have the ability to obtain the speed and knockdown power they crave, all from a true short action cartridge.

Matched with the new lightweight, short action Model Seven™, the .300 Remington SA and 7mm Remington SA Ultra Mags will enable hunters and shooters to achieve velocities and energies never before available in a production short action cartridge.

By modifying their original Ulta Magnum cartridge, Remington was able to construct an extremely efficient short action cartridge that equals the ballistic performance of popular long action belted magnum cartridges. The Remington SA Ultra Mag design allows up to 17 percent less case capacity than comparable long action belted magnums, while using as much as 12 percent less powder. These short action cartridges offer a beltless case that exhibits the standard Ultra Mag base profile and increased shell wall taper resulting in a more efficient cartridge with superb accuracy.

For 2001, the .300 Remington SA Ultra Mag and 7mm Remington SA Ultra Mag cartridges will be loaded with the highly versatile Nosler® Partition® bullet that combines extreme accuracy, penetration and expansion to deliver awesome game-stopping power. The 7mm SA Ultra Mag will be offered in a 160-grain Nosler Partition while the .300 SA Ultra Mag will be offered in a 180-grain Nosler Partition.
