California Hunt Canceled
A late-season waterfowl hunt in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta has been canceled, announced California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) officials.

The hunt, which has been jointly conducted by DFG and the Department of Water Resources (DWR) for the past three years, was developed and managed to take advantage of normal agricultural practices by the tenant farmers on the areas. Unfortunately, winter flooding will not be conducted this year, prompting DFG to cancel the late-season waterfowl hunts this season.

The late-season waterfowl hunt began during the 1998/1999 season to expand upon pheasant hunting opportunities that began in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta in 1993. DFG will be working with DWR and their tenant farmers over the next year to explore methods of providing waterfowl opportunities in future years without impacting farming operations.
