Hunting Memories

California Elk

Dave Kitt (center) of Eureka, California, shows off his 6x6 Roosevelt bull elk which he took on the second day of the season during the Klamath Either-sex Elk hunt in California. The hunt took place in early September.

On the first day of the hunt he saw one bull but couldn't get a shot. On the second day his friend, Roy Gatlin, called for 30 to 40 minutes until the elk got within 90 yards. Dave took the bull with one shot from his Remington BDL rifle shooting a 150-grain, .270 PMC bullet.

Dave tells us that this hunt is not easy and if people can't use a call, they shouldn't put in for this hunt.
