DU Legacy Greenwing Event
On January 5, 2002 at 2 p.m., the Legacy Greenwing Dedication Ceremony will take place at the West Bear Creek site of the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge near Los Banos, California.

This is a joint venture with Ducks Unlimited and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services (USFWF). Guest speakers include the DU State Chairperson, Nancy Malech; Steve Thompson, Acting Manager, CA/NV Operations Office for the USFWS; Kim Forrest, Complex Refuge Manager, San Luis National Wildlife Refuge; Ryan Broderick, the DU Director of Conservation for the Valley/Bay Care Initiative; and Steve Brown, DU Regional VP.

DU has over 289 children's names on the plaque that will be unveiled at the dedication. This project has established a partnership which represents a continuing legacy for the DU children in the state of California, and for the USFWS. The area which is being dedicated incorporates three different staging/shooting areas as well as developed wetlands areas for resting and nesting of ducks, other shore birds and animals.

The Legacy Greenwing DU members (ages one-day-old until their 18th birthday) donated or were sponsored $200 each for the restoration of the West Bear Creek Refuge.

The dedication ceremony is open to the public.
