Hunting Memories

California Bucks

I just wanted to send you a picture of my last two hunts.

A lot of people say you can't get any large deer in California anymore. I am a native and have been deer hunting ever since I got my license when I was 12. This past season was my 25th anniversary of deer hunting in California and it was another good one.

I do all of my hunting on public land. This year's rack (right) was a mule deer which was a 4x3 taken in Zone X4. The other rack I am holding was last year's 4x4 blacktail. It was reportedly one of the largest in a long time taken in the C4 Zone.

I learned to deer hunt from my dad who is a California native as well (77 years young). I am in the Navy and stationed in Nevada. (Yes, I travel to California to deer hunt!)

I am going back to my old C4 Zone in 2002 to hunt. There were very few deer in X4.
