Questions for Wildlife Agencies
Wyoming

Question:
I applied for bighorn sheep for the first time this year. Is there any realistic chance of me drawing?

Answer:
It all depends on what you think is realistic. A random draw of 25 percent of the quota is held for applicants regardless of preference points, so at least you have a mathematical chance, usually less than one percent in most areas. Hunters with the highest point totals draw for 75 percent of the quota. Either way for most areas, drawing a bighorn sheep license is very difficult.

Idaho

Question:
Is it OK to carry a two-way radio while hunting in Idaho?

Answer:
A proposal to ban the use of electronic communication devices in the taking of game did recently come before the Idaho Fish and Game Commission, but department staff did not recommend a change in current law. The department cited public comment in opposition to the ban. The Commission agreed with the recommendation and kept rules as they were, allowing unrestricted use of electronic communications devices in the field.
