California Big Game Application Numbers Jump
Think it was hard to draw a big game tag in 2001? Well, the odds got worse in 2002. With the DFG giving out points to unsuccessful hunters for the first time, the number of applications jumped dramatically. The most significant jump was for antelope tags where hunters turned in 10,000+ more applications this year when compared to last year. This was almost a 100% increase. Many hunters will be hoping for better odds starting in 2003, when the DFG is scheduled to have a new drawing system based on points received from unsuccessful years.
