Wyoming Fire Ban Lifted
As of October 4, 2002, campfires and barbecue grills are again permitted on Game and Fish Commission lands, thanks to the widespread rain and snow gracing the Cowboy State the past week.

“This moisture is certainly welcome, but by no means is the long-term drought over yet,” said Gary Butler, G&F habitat supervisor. “Hunters still need to be careful not to start a range fire, because winter big game forage is still in very short supply.”

The Bureau of Land Management and most national forests in Wyoming have also lifted their fire bans following the snowstorm. Hunters are still advised to contact the national forest they will be hunting in for specific fire rules.

Hunters are reminded campfires are prohibited year-round on walk-in areas and state school sections.
