Big Surprise
on a Deer Hunt
What a big suprise for deer hunters Ron Bunch (left) and his wife CeCe (right) and their grandson, Alex Newlin. They were hunting blacktail deer with Bill Burrows of Burrows Ranch Hunting Club west of Red Bluff, California, when this 375-pound bruin appeared. It took a couple of shots to put this big boy on the ground for good but you can tell from Alex's smile it really made for an exciting hunt.

The hunters, from Chico, California, bagged the bear on October 20, 2002.

The Burrows Ranch Hunting Club provides deer, hog and dove hunts in Northern California — an sometimes a bear can be put in the bag.
