| This 4x3 blacktail was taken near Covelo in 2001. I shot it at about 60 yards with a 270. My first shot just grazed him as he ran down a hill below me. After he ran off, I let him wait about 2 1/2 hours and then began looking for him. I found him bedded down on a small ledge at the base of a rock cliff. We had made eye contact at about 15 yards, just before I sealed the deal with a second shot.
