Dove Hunting Opportunity
The California Department of Fish and Game is taking applications for dove hunting on the Chimineas Unit of the Carrizo Plain Ecological Reserve. The hunt will be Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14, 2003.

Permits: Hunting permits are required. Twenty-five permits will be drawn on August 22, 2003 and each permit is good for two (2) hunters.
Applications: Applicants may only submit a single application for this hunt. Submit a self-addressed envelope and a standard Postal Service post card (one name per card) with Name, Address, Telephone #, and Hunting license # to:

Applications need to be received at the address above by 5:00 p.m., August 19, 2003. Applications received late, incomplete, or without a self-addressed envelope will not be considered in the draw. Successful applicants will receive additional information regarding this hunt, including maps and special regulations, prior to their hunt. Unsuccessful applicants will not be notified.

The 14,314-acre Chimineas Unit was acquired by DFG in August 2002. The property is located between the Los Padres National Forest and the Carrizo Plain National Monument in southeastern San Luis Obispo County. This portion of the ecological reserve is accessed from Highway 166 along the San Luis Obispo/Santa Barbara county line.
