Sale Date for Idaho Tags
Although autumn hunting seasons are still some way off, resident big game hunters will be able to buy tags for hunts with a quota on the number of tags, such as Middle Fork elk tags, beginning at 5 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time (MDT) August 1 at private vendors as well as Fish and Game offices.

Resident general season tags for all big game species, in hunts with no quota, went on sale at 5 a.m. MDT July 25 so that hunters could purchase their tags in time for early hunts, some of which start August 1.

Controlled hunt permits and tags can be purchased at any time, but must be bought no later than August 20 or they will be offered first-come, first-served in the "unclaimed tag" sale that begins at 10 a.m. MDT August 30, and are not available over the phone or on the Internet.

• Controlled hunt tags: any time prior to August 20, any in-state vendor, telephone or Internet sales
• Non-quota tags: any vendor starting 5 a.m. MDT July 25
• Quota tags: any vendor starting 5 a.m. MDT August 1
• Unclaimed controlled hunt tags: any in-state vendor starting 10 a.m. MDT August 30, no telephone or Internet sales. List will be on the Fish and Game website as soon as possible after August 20.
