In a joint effort, Department of Fish and Game, Shasta Country Sportsmen Association, and the Bureau of Land Management will be sponsoring a junior pheasant hunt to take place November 8 and 9, 2003, on the "Bend area" of the Sacramento River Recreation Area, north of the City of Red Bluff in Tehama County. The hunt will be as follows:

Hunt 1 - Saturday, November 8, 8:00 a.m. to noon - 25 hunters
Hunt 2 - Saturday, November 8, 1:00 p.m. to sunset - 25 hunters
Hunt 3 - Sunday, November 9, 8:00 a.m. to noon - 25 hunters
Hunt 4 - Sunday, November 9, 1:00 p.m. to sunset - 25 hunters

All hunters must possess a valid 2003-2004 California hunting license at the time of application. Juniors wanting a permit must apply in writing on a standard Postal Service postcard. Up to four names per postcard are allowed and no more than one application (postcard) may be submitted per group. The card must contain each junior's name, complete mailing address, telephone number, date of birth, 2003-2004 hunting license number, and order of preferred hunt.

Application postcards must reach the Department of Fish and Game, P.O. Box 188, Paynes Creek, CA 96075-0188, by October 17, 2003.

A computer generated random drawing will be held October 20, 2003. If a hunter or group did not receive their first choice, they will be considered for their second choice. Each hunt will be limited to 25 participants. In the event a hunt is not filled from the November 3 drawing, it will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis until all hunts are filled. Only successful applicants will be notified. Permits or hunt dates are not transferable.
