Stopping a Deer Diet

Pictured above is a mountain lion that won't be eating any more Oregon deer. The volunteer deer management crew is Jim Walker (left), a young hunting assistant (middle), and Lyle Klenski (right).

Here is a big Oregon cougar that we harvested recently. My hunting buddy, Lyle Klenski, and I were out looking the country over where I run my traps. While driving down the road we both noticed something red on the hillside. Lyle got out his binoculars and saw that the red spot was a mule deer that had just been killed. What we saw was the exposed ribs of the deer. While we were viewing the freshly killed deer from the road mister cougar stood up out of the sagebrush. This is where he made his mistake. He won't eat any more deer. This cat weighed in at 140 pounds and was about 9 years old.
