Hunt & Fish For
Free in Washington State
Would you be interested in having lifetime fishing and hunting privileges – at no cost? If so, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has an opportunity for you! The WDFW is the first in the nation to offer a drawing for Lifetime Recreational Hunting and Fishing Privileges. Tickets went on sale January 1, 2004, and cost $6.50 for a chance to win resident privileges, and $12.50 for nonresident opportunity. Each ticket number is good for 365 days, or until it wins, whichever comes first. Winners are eligible for permanent annual fishing and hunting licenses, each year, at no charge whatsoever, for the rest of their lives.

The Department is very excited about this new opportunity, and hope you will be, also. Winners qualify for annual combination fishing/shellfish/seaweed licenses, an annual combination big game license, an annual small game license (including one turkey tag, a Western Washington Pheasant Permit, and a Migratory Bird validation), a vehicle use permit, and a Watchable Wildlife decal (or any combination of the above), each and every year of their lives. All rules and regulations still apply, of course, but lifetime privilege holders will be immune from any future fee increases or dealer fees. You can purchase tickets via phone (1-866-246-9453), at any of their authorized dealers or over the Internet. Winners will be notified by certified mail, and privileges may be transferred within 15 days of acceptance, so tickets can be given as gifts – if you’re feeling generous!

Drawings will take place on a quarterly basis. The first quarter ends March 31. This gives ticket buyers a chance four times a year to be drawn.
