Waterfowl Hunting from
Oregon to Mexico
Wilderness Unlimited, California's largest private hunting club, has informed us that they have added additional duck and goose hunting properties for the upcoming season. Their announcement follows …

The 2004/2005 California Waterfowl Hunting Seasons have been adopted. California Fish and Game splits the state into five different management zones, each with separate opening dates and seasons.

Wilderness Unlimited (W.U.), California1s largest private waterfowl operator has available for its members over 35 duck and goose clubs in four of the five waterfowl hunting zones. Starting with the Northeastern opener on October 9 and running through January 30, W.U. will be hunting waterfowl somewhere in California. The serious waterfowler can follow the birds if he/she chooses.

Historically, W.U. has concentrated its California holdings in the Colusa and El Centro areas. Facilities are also in the Fall River, Los Banos, and Tulare areas. While the season is still a month away, the following new clubs have been added thus far to W.U.'s already extensive California holdings for this season:

South Sutter Club – This 370-acre club lies approximately 3 miles south of the Sutter Refuge near the town of Yuba City. These flooded rice fields include blinds.

Backwater Club – This club consists of over 100 acres of natural habitat or set-aside (not farmed ground) southeast of the town of Los Banos in the heart of the better waterfowling area. Waterfowl shooting will be from in-ground blinds.

Looney Spoonie Club (previously known as the Old DKW Club) – This 100-acre natural habitat club lies approximately 2 miles northeast of the town of Imperial, just minutes from Mexico. It also includes hunting blinds.

And if that is not enough, Wilderness Unlimited also manages for its members several waterfowl properties in the state of Oregon. The Oregon Fish and Wildlife adopted the "liberal" season guidelines allowing for a 107-day season with larger bag limits. Thus a W.U. member can hunt from the Columbia River to the Mexican border.
